The Power of God’s Favour
In our pursuit of purpose and productivity, God enables us from within by inspiring ideas, strategies, and the strength to persevere. But when it comes to implementing these visions, God’s favour is critical. It aligns us with the right people—those who can help us grow, elevate our efforts, and provide an enabling platform for us to thrive.
“For You, Lord, will bless the righteous; with favour, You will surround him as with a shield. ”Psalm 5:12
God’s favour is like a shield, surrounding and protecting the blessings He has given us. This favour doesn’t just safeguard us but also opens doors for further growth and success.
In Genesis 39:4, Joseph experienced this firsthand.
.
“And Joseph found grace in his [Potiphar’s] sight and served him, and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had, he put into his hand.” Genesis 39:4
When God’s favour rests upon us, people recognize our abilities, creating opportunities for our talents and skills to shine.
God’s Favour Shapes Our Journey
In Exodus 3:21, God promises His people,
“I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, and it shall be, when you go, that you shall not go empty-handed.” Exodus 3:21
God’s favour was instrumental in ensuring that the Israelites left Egypt abundantly blessed. Similarly, God’s favour brings people and resources into our lives to propel us toward our God-given purpose.
How to Receive God’s Favour
- Pray for Favour
Even Jesus, during His earthly ministry, grew in “wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men” (Luke 2:52). Jesus consciously prayed for God’s favour as He walked in His purpose. We, too, must consistently seek God’s favour through prayer. - Practice Generosity
Acts of generosity are memorials before God. In Acts 10:4, Cornelius’s prayers and alms “came up for a memorial before God.” Proverbs 11:24-25 also highlights that “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” When we act generously, God remembers our kindness and can grant us favour with others. - Maintaining Favour with Others
It’s essential to cherish and maintain favour, especially with those who have supported us. Even when conflicts arise, strive to speak well of those who have shown you kindness. Seek peace, avoid strife, and remember Proverbs 3:3-4, “Let love and faithfulness never leave you… Then you will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and man.”
Conclusion
God’s favour is a gift, guiding and protecting us in our purpose. As we trust in Him and live generously, He surrounds us with opportunities and people to help us thrive. May we walk in His favour always, for in Him, we find success.
